Tare2 and Tare3
Two additional tared vehicle types besides trucks can be defined. For example, a truck may pull a trailer or carry a removable container; each with its own tare weight.
To activate the tare 2 or tare 3 tables, select Setup | Configure – Trucks, Etc. This screen allows you to name and enable the additional tared vehicle types. Once enabled they will appear as tabs in the Account window. Select Maintain | Accounts, select a customer from the available list similar to the following.
The additional tare tables will appear as tabs, Trailer and Container in our example.
To add a new record, click on the Add New button. Place the cursor in the Trailer Code field. The Trailer Code is the only field required to make a valid entry.
Table Names
The tabs will reflect the name given to enable the table. This example uses Trailer for Tare2 and Container for Tare3. Both tables function the same way.
- Code – Required - 10 Character alpha numeric, available to print on tickets
- Description – Optional - 30 Character alpha numeric, available to print on tickets
- Hauler – This field will always match the selected account. If changed, the record will be associated with the new account.
Reassign Hauler Account
To move a record from one Hauler account to another, select the account from the Hauler drop-down list. Select the new account. Click the Save Changes button.
Tare Weight
A tare weight can be updated manually from this window or with the current scale weight in the weigh form during a transaction.
- Tare Weight –Used to store the empty weight. Weights should only be entered in the Display Division set in the scale indicator, typically 20 pound increments for indicators set to use Pounds and 10 kilogram increments for indicators set to use Kilograms.
- Date Set – Field is automatically set to current system date. Can be changed if desired.
- Date Expire – When set, this feature will automatically calculate an expiration date based on the number of days entered. To enable this feature, select Setup | Configure – Trucks, Etc.
Properties
- Axles - Enter the number of axles for this tared vehicle. This information can be printed on tickets or used in unattended mode to prompt a driver to pull forward for additional axle weighments.
Tare Weight Limits
This feature is not yet available for Tare 2 and Tare 3. The Tare button on the Weigh form cannot be used to update tare weights for Tare 2 or Tare 3 tables. The truck tare weight cannot be updated when a tare 2 or tare 3 vehicle has been selected. An error message similar to the following appears.
Gross Weight Limits
Values set at the tare 2 or 3 level will be added with a value in the Truck or tare 1 table. This combined value will override the global Gross Weight Limit. Enter the minimum and maximum gross weights for this item. Weight values must be entered in pounds. Transactions will not be processed if the value for combined gross weight is beyond these limits. The gross weight is not checked if these values are zero.
For example, if the maximum gross weight limit for a selected Truck is 80,000 pounds and the maximum gross weight for a selected Trailer (Tare 2) is 10,000 the combined maximum gross weight limit is 90,000. A warning will not appear until the Gross weight has exceeded 90,000 pounds.
