Tax Authorities

To create and edit items in the Tax Authorities table, select Maintain | Tax Authorities. The Tax Authorities table will appear.

Add a Tax Authority

A Tax Authority is any government entity that is authorized by law to assess, levy and collect taxes. Use the Tax Authorities table to enter all taxing authorities used by your company. These tax authorities will be used later to create Tax Codes.

To add a new Tax Authority, click the  Add New button. A blank form appears.

Enter a Code, Description, and Rate. Select the items to be taxed; Added Charge, Freight, and any active Price Components (1 - 3), Base Matrl for our example.

Click the  Save Changes button to continue. To undo any changes, click the  Undo Changes button.

Editing an Existing Tax Authority

Changing the Tax Authority Name

To change the Name for an existing Tax Authority, select the Tax Authority from the list or use the search field. Make desired changes and click the  Save Changes button.

Delete a Tax Authority

To delete a Tax Authority, select the Tax Authority from the list or use the search field and click the  Delete Record button. A window similar to the following will appear.

Click Yes to delete the Tax Authority. Click No to cancel the deletion and return to the Tax Authority table. Only Tax Authorities that are not assigned to a Tax Code can be deleted.
