Charge - User-Defined UOM

Charge based on User-Defined UOM

Charges can also be based on a conversion. The User-Defined Conversion UOM feature has two conversion factors available to convert pounds (or kilograms) to a user-defined unit of measure. Interact can also be configured to calculate a charge based on the User-Defined UOM instead of the weight.

Use the following instructions to enable the User-Defined Conversion UOM and Charge based on User-Defined Unit features and add rates to price tables.

Enabling features

To activate the UOM conversion feature, select Setup | Configure | User-Defined Conversion UOM.

  1. Enter a label in the Unit 1 or Unit 2 fields.
  2. Use the +/- to increase or decrease the number of decimal places to store in the database and print on tickets.
  3. Click the  Save button to save changes.

To enable to ability to charge based on user-defined units, select Setup | Configure | Prices

  1. Place a check in the box Charge based on user-defined unit
  2. Click the  Save button to save changes.

Enter Rates for User-Defined Units

To add rates for user-defined units, select Maintain | Prices. Select a table and click the Prices tab.

The Yard column can be used to enter the Unit 1 rate and the Unit column can be used to enter the Unit 2 rate. The rate in the weight column (Pounds or Tons), must be set to $0.00 for the materials that will be using the conversion rate.

Click the  Save button to save changes. To undo any changes, click the  Undo button.

In the above example, the product will be weighed, the net pounds will be converted to the specified UOM (cubic yards in our example) and stored with the weight. The charge will be calculated by multiplying the converted UOM (cubic yards) * $25.00.

The weight column must be set to $0.00 for each price component.

A rate can be entered for each price component when Price Components are in use.

If both conversion factors are in use, enter the converted UOM price in either the Yard or Unit column. If a value is entered into both columns, the value in the Yard column will be used.

If a value is entered in the Weight column, the value in the Weight column will be used.
