Subcat 1 / Subcat 2
The Material table can have one or two subcategories activated. Subcategories help group items in a table for reporting purposes. To activate either of the subcategories enter a Label in the Subcat1 or Subcat2 field and check the Enabled box.
Enter the list of available sub categories in the Definition field. Type a single unique character identifier followed by a comma and name surrounded by parentheses. There are no spaces between the parentheses or before and after the comma.
Example
An aggregate company sells many types of products; rock, sand, mulch, etc. To enhance reporting capabilities a sub category can be activated and each material can be associated with one of the sub categories. When reports are run by material, an option to select the sub category type will be enabled. When one of the sub categories is selected only those material items associated with that sub category will be included on the report. Sub category set up would look similar to the image below.
select Setup | Configure - Materials. Once active they will be included in the Sub Cats section of the Material table. In the following example a sub category labeled Type has been added.
Each of the material items in the table can be added to one of the user defined sub categories listed; None, Rock, Sand, and Other in our example. The sub category is available when running reports where Material is selected as a Group Option. When one of these types is selected, only the material items belonging to that sub category group will appear on the report.
