Ports

Before a Device can be connected to the computer it must have a port available. 

To activate a Port, select Setup | Devices - Ports. A window similar to the following will appear.

Add a Windows Serial Port

To add a new Windows Serial Port, click the  New button. Select Windows Serial Port from the available drop-down list. Serial communication ports are used for serial devices such as scale indicators.

A window similar to the following appears.

Select the communication (COM) port from the Port drop-down list. The new port is added to the list. Set the rest of the parameters for the port; Baud Rate, Data Bits, Handshake, Stop Bits, and Parity.

Click the  Save button to continue. To undo any changes, click the  Undo button.

Connect the device and click the Test button. A stream of data, similar to the following, will appear in the box to the right when the device has been properly configured and connected.

Click the Test button to suspend testing. Once the port is configured and working, a device can be configured to use the port. Click on Devices to continue.

Add a K-2a Serial Port

To add a new K-2a Serial Port, click the  New button. Select K-2a Serial Port from the available drop-down list.

A window similar to the following will appear.

Select the K-2a from the available drop-down list. Select the Port from the available drop-down list. Set the rest of the parameters for the port; Baud Rate, Data Bits, Stop Bits, and Parity.

Click the  Save button to continue. To undo any changes, click the  Undo button.

Connect the device and click the Test button. A stream of data, similar to the following, will appear in the box to the right when the device has been properly configured and connected.

Add a TCP Port

To add a new TCP Port, click the  New button. Select TCP Port from the available drop-down list.

A windows similar to the following appears.

Enter a meaningful Name for the TCP device.

Enter the IP Address of the device.

Enter the TCP Port.

Check the box to Automatically reconnect if no data.

Click the  Save button to continue. To undo any changes, click the  Undo button.

Connect the device and click the Test button. A stream of data, similar to the following, will appear in the box to the right when the device has been properaly configured and connected.
