Category 1 - 4
Use the Category 1 - 4 set up window to activate any of the four (4) additional tables. These additional tables are used to help categorize transactions for additional reporting capabilities. Category names can be customized to match an organization's naming preferences.
To activate a category table select Setup | Configure - Category #. A window similar to the following will appear.
Title
Use this field to enter the label for the Category. For our example Category 1 has been labeled "Origin". Check the Enable box to activate the category.

Subcat 1 / Subcat 2
The Category table can have one or two subcategories activated. Subcategories help group items in a table for reporting purposes. To activate either of the subcategories enter a Label in the Subcat 1 or Subcat 2 field, Type for our example, and check the Enabled box.
Enter the list of available subcategories in the Definition field. Type a single unique character identifier followed by a comma and name surrounded by parentheses. There are no spaces between the parentheses or before and after the comma.
Example - Subcategory
The following example activates a subcategory labeled "Type" for the Origin category. The drop-down list that will appear in the Origin table will be City, Township, or Village. The user will be able to further identify each origin using the subcategory.
To enhance reporting capabilities a subcategory can be activated and each item can be associated with one of the subcategories. When reports are run by Origin, an option to select the subcategory type will be enabled. When one of the subcategories is selected only those items associated with the selected subcategory will be included on the report. The subcategory set up would look similar to the image below.
Once active they will be included in the Sub Cats section of the table. In the following example a subcategory labeled Type has been added. The drop-down list in our sample Origin table will display City, Township, or Village.
